Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification

Service Description

It costs $110 to attend the class. Pay $55 deposit and the rest before class. For those who accept a job at the YWCO pay only the deposit! In this class, you go over the skills and procedures you learned during your first lifeguard certification class. This class includes an online, in-classroom portion and in-water portion where you will watch videos, refresh your memory on first aid care, perform CPR, and rescues in the water. This class takes place over the course of two days. Friday evening 5-9 and Sunday 8-2. There will be a practical test in the water at the end of class as well as a 50 question written test (80% to pass) which is necessary to earn your recertification. Valid for 2 years. *Pre-course requirements: 150 yard swim (no back stroke or side stroke) right into a 2 minute tread (no hands), then swim another 50 yards. While swimming, you must swim continuously, keeping your face in the water and demonstrating good breath control (goggles allowed). Next is a timed event including getting a ten pound weight from the bottom of the pool, 40 yard swim and exiting the water without stairs. Please practice enough to be in shape to pass this requirement.
